Q Connect meets in a central location. To enhance security, we do not post the group location online. Instead, we ask that anyone interested in the group call the NAMI office for details at 719.473.8477.

Also, We require one-time registration for new group participants. If you will be attending a NAMI group for the first time, please fill out the New Participant Form. For more, please call 719.473.8477 or email peer programs coordinator Kat Lilley.

NAMI’s Q Connect is a Connection Support Group specifically for people who identify as members of the LGBTQIA2+ community. It is held weekly for anyone who is 18 or older and is facilitated by peers who are navigating their own mental health issues and concerns.

The group encourages empathy, productive discussion, and community in a confidential, non-judgmental space. Participants of other NAMI Connection groups have helped them:

  • Feel a sense of connection with others with lived experience;
  • Aim for better coping skills;
  • Find strength in sharing experiences;
  • Not judge anyone’s pain;
  • Forgive and reject guilt;
  • Embrace humor as healthy;
  • Accept that not every problem can be solved;
  • Understand that mental health conditions are no one’s fault and can create traumatic experiences.

To get a sense of what you might expect at a support group gathering, see the two documents below. The “Principles of Support” guide and ground our discussions, and the “Emotional Stages of Recovery” document provides a useful reference for facilitators and attendees alike.
