Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) for First Responders
March 18 - March 19
Course time: The workshop will begin at 8:30 am and end at 4:30 pm each day. Please arrive for check in by 8:15 am.
ASIST is a two-day workshop designed for individuals interested in learning more about suicide prevention. In this evidence-based training, you will learn suicide first-aid techniques to help a person with thoughts of suicide stay safe and seek further help as needed. Participants learn to use a suicide intervention model to:
- Identify persons with thoughts of suicide
- Seek a shared understanding of reasons for dying and living
- Develop a safe plan based upon a review of risk
- Prepare for follow-up
- Become involved in suicide-safer community networks
This class is primarily offered for First Responders and their family members aged 16 or older wanting to make their community safer from suicide!
